Giving Kitchener-Waterloo players the competitive edge since 1987!
Skating is the most fundamental skill required to play hockey or ringette, but often it is the least-practiced skill in young athletes. Stick handling, shooting, checking and even goaltending, while all different skills, have one thing in common--SKATING!
Serving the Region of Waterloo, the Twin City Hockey Skating School (TCHSS) offers action-packed, high energy power skating lessons geared to hockey and ringette players that focus on balance, power, agility, speed and endurance. We offer training year-round so players can make full use of their newly acquired power skating skills at any time. Sessions consist of a warm-up, full ice technical drills, and balance/agility drills.
Participants for all Twin City Hockey Skating School programs except Pre-Power are required to possess basic skating skills including forward and backward skating, and be able to stop on command without using the boards. Basic skating skills instruction is available from the Kitchener-Waterloo Skating Club.

Player Profile: Michael Latta
"It's critical to begin power skating lessons at a young age to develop good habits", says Guelph Storm player Michael Latta. Following the recommendation of his coach in 2005 when he played midget hockey,
Latta began weekly training with Twin City Hockey Skating School head coach Bob Mackowski to improve his skating timing and rhythm, stride length, knee drive, and cross-overs. Latta, who recently signed a 3-year contract with the NHL's Nashville Predators, says he cannot underestimate the importance of proper skating technique for hockey.
